Replica Watches Interview Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève 2015

— Carine Maillard (director) and Carlo Lamprecht (president of the GPHG Foundation): “our event is on the calendar in the United Arab Emirates”.

How is the 15th anniversary of the GPHG shaping up?
Carine Maillard : Registrations have been open since the start of May and close on 22nd June. We saw a record number of entries last year and hope to see the same this year, too. The Grand Prix d’Horlogerie is a competition but it has a unifying image. It is a promotional tool for the entire industry, regardless of who wins. As Nick Hayek recently said, “the Swiss Breitling replica watchmaking industry is seen as a single entity by its customers”. We count on the participation of the brands, because taking part both shows the vitality of the entire industry and supports it, which we believe is all the more important in the current climate. As usual, the 15th awards ceremony will take place at the Grand Théâtre de Genève on 29th October. But we will be using a different venue for the 2016 and 2017 editions because this theatre will be under renovation.
Carlo Lamprecht : For the fifth consecutive year, in other words since the creation of the GPHG Foundation, the Swiss Federal Council will be represented at the awards ceremony. This year, Mr Alain Berset, Minister in charge of the Federal Department of Home Affairs will honour us with his presence. The arrival of smart replica watches, the difficulties created by the strength of the Swiss franc, the drop in sales in some Asian markets are just some of the challenges that the Swiss watchmaking industry faces this year. Our travelling exhibition that presents the most beautiful creations of the year helps the industry to consolidate its position in the major markets of the world.

What will be the most significant stopover for the exhibition this year?
Carine Maillard : Our exhibition in Dubai, which will take place from 18th until 22nd October. This stage of our road show will be a part of the first Dubai Watch Week, organised by Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons in association with the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève. This partnership allows us to extend our horizons and offer, in parallel to our exhibition of the shortlisted watches, a forum on the art and culture of watchmaking that will include discussions, conferences and workshops. The Dubai Watch Week is intended to be a cultural and educational platform and will undoubtedly be one of the highlights of the Dubai calendar and the watchmaking calendar.
Carlo Lamprecht : In addition to Dubai, which has included the GPHG in the great annual events of the United Arab Emirates, we wanted to go back to Hong Kong as well, since it is a strategic location for watch sales in Asia. Although it has yet to be confirmed, we are in the advanced stages of discussions to be present in South Korea for the first time, in Seoul, where the luxury market is booming. After the exhibition in Geneva, the winning fake watches UK will be on show at Salon QP in London. All these exhibitions will be complemented by debates and events that are open to watch fans and collectors and moderated by world-renowned figures in the industry. All this is achieved with the help of the Swiss embassies in the respective countries.

In 2012 you institutionalised the 12th Art, the art of measuring time. Is it too early to talk about the impact of this move?
Carlo Lamprecht : Carlo Lamprecht: I am increasingly convinced that this designation is not outdated and that, on the contrary, it is fully justified. We that people are taking it into account more and more, quite naturally and quite justifiably. The ingenuity of the innovations we see, the constant quest for excellence and the emotion such creations evoke from fans, watchmaking definitely deserves to be recognised and admitted to the Pantheon of the arts, under the chapter of the XIIth Art.

Speake-Marin Interview with Michel Teweles

— The COO of Speake-Marin speaks to the editor-in-chief of GMT magazine.

Speake-Marin entered a new dimension last year; how did distributors react?

Very positively! After a period of observation, a number of retailers came to visit us at Baselworld, and we were able to open new doors in the United States and Singapore for example. There are also certain clients who have been loyal to Peter Speake-Marin for 15 years and who had been slightly cautious over these past two years, but are now all reassured by the new strategy and the accompanying products. We have crossed the threshold of 30 points of sale and should be able to double that in the coming years – even if what truly counts for us is still the quality and longevity of distributors, such as the new names that have recently begun representing us, whether on New York’s 5th Avenue or Harrods of London.

You surprised a lot of people by introducing ladies’ replica watches…

Cheap Rolex Replica Watches for women account for a significant proportion of the watch market, from which the brand was totally absent. We took the decision to remedy that last summer, and after a great deal of work we were able to present 14 references at Baselworld. Even though the first models being sold are equipped with quartz movements, the case has been designed to house mechanical calibers if that were to prove necessary.

What will your partnership with Vaucher Manufacture bring you?

This benchmark producer of mechanical movements can follow the evolution of the needs of our brands in terms of products and volumes. This is a long-term partnership and we work together very closely, with continuous exchanges regarding our requirements, in each Peter is strongly involved.

Will your brand-new vertical double tourbillon become a flagship model?

The tourbillon has in fact always played an important role in the history of Speake-Marin, whose first creation was equipped with one. The latest model is in fact a 10-piece limited series that we are starting to deliver now. It has been favorably received on the market and we plan to do a more substantial follow-up. Grand Complications are part of our strategy and collectors will doubtless appreciate our limited series, but we are keen to maintain a human-scale approach. Speake-Marin will also be taking part in Only replica watches UK for the first time in 2015, a project dear to the hearts of the entire team!

You have been managing the company for the past year. What have you done in this time?

I remodelled the organisation and optimised the way we operate, adding some rigour both internally and with our suppliers, but none of this would have been possible or even conceivable without the team in place. Some of them were already here when I arrived, others joined during the course of 2014. I used the management style I am used to and for which I was hired, even if it surprises some people, but it works! I am just in the middle of everything, the conductor who is tidying up a symphony. Each individual is aware of their area of expression. As Saint-Exupéry said: “I am the one who coaxes the best out of the team, who turns others into creators of strength, into inventors.” In short, I am a boss who needs other people…

Vacheron Constantin replica watches and its manufacture-made chronographs

— With three exclusive in-house-made calibres, Vacheron Constantin replica watches is finally adding a chronograph to its range of Manufacture-made movements.

Vacheron Constantin, Calibre 3300

Juan-Carlos Torres, CEO Vacheron Constantin, had mentioned this new development in an interview granted to WorldTempus in 2014. His words have now been confirmed, since the company has its own in-house chronograph movement – or in fact movements in the plural, since the Geneva-based brand has effectively scored a triple whammy by launching three calibres at once, all housed within its new Harmony line. This was of course no ordinary occasion, since this year sees Vacheron Constantin celebrating 260 years of uninterrupted activity, and we all know the brand is very keen on anniversaries.

Vacheron Constantin had long relied on an external supplier – now known as Manufacture Breguet after many years under the name Nouvelle Lemania – for its hand-wound chronograph movement. Breguet had announced that it was planning to recover exclusive use of this calibre that has been produced non-stop for more than 20 years and ideally lends itself to various high-end interpretations. Vacheron Constantin systematically submitted it for Poinçon de Genève certification, a token of quality to which the brand remains more strongly attached than ever.

All this meant that Vacheron Constantin had its work cut out to replace this movement with its essential characteristics. Hand-wound chronographs represent a prestigious type of movement that many brands regard as a Rolex replica watch industry gem – especially since it serves as a basis for even more prestigious extrapolations such as the split-second chronograph or the addition of a perpetual calendar.

This new line of calibres begins with reference 3300. The simplest of the three new movements, it is distinguished by a broad 14 ½-ligne diameter, its elegant design, high-.end finishes, monopusher operation, as well as its bi-compax configuration at 3 and 9 o’clock. It also drives a display of the 65-hour power reserve, the minimum expected of a contemporary high-end movement.

Working on this basis, Vacheron Constantin has created a complete series of complications. The first evolution, Calibre 3200, looks so similar to the 3300 that one might almost imagine taking the latter and simply replacing the balance with a tourbillon escapement. That is of course not the route taken, particularly with such an elegant tourbillon, appearing at 12 o’clock through an opening in the baseplate, and thus by extension through the dial.

While the 3300 is intended for wider use and 3200 has an extremely noble vocation, another variation offers a set of sophisticated characteristics that make it the pride and joy of the ‘family’: Calibre 3500.  It is equipped with a split-second function, a complex and prestigious feature that Vacheron Constantin had foregone for many decades. It is now making a spectacular impact on the field since this calibre is now the thinnest in its category at just 5.20 mm, despite the fact that split-second mechanisms are by definition greedy when it comes to stacking up the millimetres. This movement is all the more interesting in that it boasts another exceptional characteristic. A sure sign of the times, the 3500 features automatic winding, but not via a classic rotor. Its finishes are too beautiful to be hidden by a semi-circular disc, even beautifully executed or skeleton-worked, which is why this calibre is wound by an engraved yellow gold segment rotating around the periphery of the movement.

Perhaps the most astonishing thing is that after years of development and at the exact same time as the launch of the type 3300 calibres, Vacheron Constantin announced that it had reached an agreement with Breguet to continue using the calibre bearing reference 1142 in its nomenclature… but from now on exclusively for women’s chronographs.
